We’re a tech-driven business that focuses on outcomes over output using low ceremony [agile delivery](https://labs.uswitch.com/freedom-from-command-and-control-at-uswitch-2012/) and cross functional [teams](https://labs.uswitch.com/how-do-we-work-in-the-insurance-team/).We are creating the next generation of comparison platforms, we are looking for passionate, technical and empathetic engineers to build highly performant and flexible systems that enable us to expand into new markets and our product teams to focus on delighting our customers.*Responsibilities:* * *Direction: *You’ll be responsible for setting the technical direction of your team alongside stakeholders from other parts of the business including , finance, and marketing* *Leadership:* Lead and build a team of engineers, mentoring them and helping them grow in their careers* *Technical vision:* Evaluate the current state of play; influence on large RVU technical direction and set the standard for the platform team you’ll be working in* *Growth and culture:* We value our company and engineering culture and are continuously looking to evolve it and make it better* *Engineering excellence: *Using your technical knowledge and expertise to help build a better RVU, and bringing people along with you on that journey *What you might be working on:** Working with the rest of the team to evolve and grow our platform, which comprises services in Clojure, Python, Kotlin and Go, running in Kubernetes* Working closely with our data engineers to manage and improve our data workflows* Supporting our product teams in their use of our platform, ensuring it meets their current needs and working with them to anticipate their future requirements* Developing the product roadmap, identifying and driving new opportunities for our platform to serve the wider business, while remaining scalable, maintainable and low on technical debt* Regularly collaborating with other engineering teams to share knowledge and best-practice* Growing and mentoring the team around you, maintaining our strong engineering culture, and ensuring that every team member has the tools and knowledge to enable them to do their best work***The things we look for in you:** You’ve had experience managing teams and engineers within agile teams (large or small) and are looking to continue to do so* A source of enthusiasm in the team, continually driving people to think of the bigger picture and make impactful changes* You’re pragmatic and deliver thoughtful and awesome solutions to solve business problems* Passionate about performance, observability, reliability, privacy and security* You want to grow within your career and are looking for a place that lets you have immediate, meaningful impact - we deploy up to 150 times a day* Get deeply involved in the larger engineering community, influence and contribute back to the community through open source projects and conferences-* A competitive salary and bonus package* Employer matching pension up to 7.5%* Hybrid approach of in-office and remote working - we‘ve learnt to adapt our work style throughout 2020 and will be adopting a hybrid approach of in-office and remote working, once it is safe to do so, where each employee will combine a mixture of the two each week.* ‘Work from Home’ budget to help contribute towards a great work environment at home* Excellent maternity, paternity and adoption leave policy, for those key moments in your life* Regular virtual events - from company-wide events with insightful external speakers, to virtual ‘coffee chats’ with fellow colleagues, we want to make sure our colleagues continue to feel connected whilst working remotely.* Health insurance* Video Screen* Technical interview* Leadership interview* FinalJava, Clojure, Python, Spring, Spring BootClojure, Java, Go, AWS, Node.js, JavaScript, React
