This position is responsible for coordinating all phases of the loan closing process. This includes scheduling, preparing loan closing packages, communicating with all parties involved in the transaction, and ensuring that all paperwork is complete, accurate, and in compliance with legal regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare mortgage loan closing documents to ensure the application and all required information is completed and in the correct order for the closing agent in a timely and accurate manner. Review documents to ensure that commitment conditions have been properly met and that all necessary information is in line for the closing process. Coordinate with the settlement agent to fulfill requests for information, answer questions, schedule closing meetings and complete the closing process. Follow-up on documentation necessary to meet listed closing conditions, such as verbal verification of employment, homeowner insurance binders, etc. Contact members as needed to collect and prepare documents. Acts as liaison between attorneys and members. Assist with resolution of any issues that arise at closing Assists the mortgage department and origination staff as needed. Review, research, and correct documentation to minimize quality control errors. Ensure that mortgage closings are completed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. Stay informed about mortgage processing standards, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to independently prioritize tasks is critical. Excellent customer service and communication skills are pertinent to successfully manage internal and external contacts. Competent knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and financial systems programs. Knowledge of mortgage lending procedures, regulation, standards, and processes. Ability to work cooperatively with others to identify, recommend and implement opportunities for increased efficiency. Ability to work efficiently and quickly in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work overtime when loan volumes deem necessary.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree in business or a related field desired with three to five years‘ experience in a financial institution or other experience with document processing, or a comparable combination of education and experience. Familiarity with credit union operations, as well as loan processing and closing experience desirable.
VSECU‘s normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Additional overtime hours may be required when loan volumes dictate the need. Once fully trained, a hybrid in-office and remote working arrangement will be considered.
