About the Role
This team will manage a high throughput data pipeline, large analytics data lake and distributed query engine leveraged by all Shopping associates and applications. The objective is to scale the platform with both business and organizational growth, control data access and maintain stability.
Manage and develop Java-based pipeline and query tools depending on Hive Metastore, AWS S3, Kafka and ORC
Assist developers and business analysts with Trino query optimization and event schema updates in Hive Metastore, S3 and ORC
Optimize configurations for analytics tools to support growing business and organization
Partner with Architecture, Enterprise Risk & Security, Business and Tech Leadership teams to ensure consistency and compliance with Capital One and Federal regulations

At least 8 years of experience in application development (Internship experience does not apply)
At least 2 years of experience in big data technologies
At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
9+ years of experience in application development including Python, Scala, or Java
4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
5+ years experience with Distributed data/computing tools (S3, Hive, or Kafka)
4+ year experience working on real-time data and streaming applications
4+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake)
2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices
2+ years of people management experience
